OUR HISTORY AND MISSION

About Us - Project Everest 2027

The Everest 2027 Project is a pioneering initiative led by the Asociación Socorro Andino Peruano (S.A.P.), designed to train high-mountain rescue brigade members with elite technical, physical, and psychological skills. Our goal is not only to reach the summit of Everest but also to establish a comprehensive model for training and knowledge transfer that strengthens rescue capacity throughout Peru and sets international safety standards for extreme mountains.
OUR DNA

Our Philosophy

The project combines adventure, professional training, and international cooperation, turning every stage into a real learning opportunity in extreme settings. Each rescue brigade member is prepared to face severe weather conditions, mixed ice and rock terrain, active glaciers, and complex rescue situations, ensuring solid and proven preparation before tackling high-altitude expeditions.
OUR ROUTE

Methodology and Structure: The Four Phases

1

PHASE 1: Preparation and Training in South America (2026–2027)

This phase includes intensive training in the Cordillera Blanca, Cordillera Huayhuash, Peruvian Andes, volcanoes of southern Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Activities include:

Misti Ascent
  • Technical training on glaciers, crevasses, and rock walls.
  • Extended rescue simulations and complex evacuations.
  • Progressive acclimation and physical endurance on multi-day expeditions. Practices on iconic volcanoes such as Chachani (6,075 m), Misti (5,822 m), and Coropuna (6,425 m), facing volcanic terrain, extreme weather, and long-duration operations.
  • International training on the Avenue of the Volcanoes in Ecuador, including Rucu Pichincha (4,696 m), Cayambe Volcano (5,790 m), and Chimborazo Volcano (6,263 m), focused on technical ice rescue, oxygen management, and high-altitude mountaineering.
  • Complementary training in Bolivia, such as Nevado Huayna Potosí (6,080 m), Isla del Sol, and the Uyuni Salt Flat, for logistics and survival in extreme environments.
2

PHASE 2: Nepal: Training and International Cooperation

In Nepal, an intensive program is conducted alongside expert Sherpas and local rescuers, with activities such as:

Sherpas at Himalayan camp
  • Rescue practices on ice, waterfalls, and high altitude.
  • High-altitude camp management and oxygen handling.
  • Evacuation protocols and operations in extreme conditions.
  • This phase turns the project into an international high-mountain rescue course, allowing for cooperation and knowledge exchange with experts from around the world.
3

PHASE 3: Everest Expedition

After preparation in South America and Nepal, the brigade members participate in the final Everest expedition, applying all acquired knowledge:

Everest Base Camp
  • Rescue and evacuation techniques at altitudes exceeding 8,000 meters.
  • Work in extreme conditions of cold, wind, ice, and snow.
  • International coordination with rescue teams and professional Sherpas.
4

PHASE 4: Knowledge Transfer in Peru

Upon return, the training of new generations of rescuers is conducted, using what was learned in the Andes and the Himalayas to strengthen rescue operations throughout the country:

Brigade member teaching in the Andes
  • Specialized high-mountain courses and workshops.
  • Training of S.A.P. brigade members with international rescue techniques.
  • Application of protocols and strategies in real rescues.
  • The project thus becomes a tool for training and continuous improvement for the entire rescue community in Peru.
